There are some pretty common pet animals that are usually seen in most houses and they are dogs, cats, rabbits etc. There are some differences in the nature and habits of dogs and cats, and so it becomes quite personal as to what you are looking for in a pet.

The first difference that is seen in the dogs and cats is that dogs are social animals and like to live in groups. The eating habits of dogs and cats are different and it is easy to manage with the dogs as compared to the cats in many aspects. Although dogs need a good amount of meat protein to maintain their health but at times they can manage without meat.

Dogs can also remain without eating for few days by utilizing the fat reserves of their body but even if the cat is overweight it cannot utilize its fat reserves and needs to be fed daily. Dogs like to roll on dirty things like the normal nature of the dogs that are seen in the street dogs. Some like cats because of their nature and habits and some prefer dogs for their obedience and guarding nature.

Tips on introducing a new pet into a home that already has pets

Animals use their sense of smell to become accustomed to other animals. You can try swapping or switching beds or blankets between your pets. If one of the animals is acting very fearful or aggressive separate them and start the process over later.

This gives the new pet a chance to get accustomed to its new surroundings. You want to keep introductions of new pets as pleasant as possible. If an altercation occurs you should try to immediately separate the pet animals. Never punish a pet for being aggressive or fighting. Your pets are just acting on instinct and are trying to protect their territory.

It will take a little time for your pets to adjust. Just remember that not all pets will be excited about another animal in their space and they will learn to tolerate them. However, on the other hand many pets become great companions for each other. To protect the four-legged members of your family you might want to consider buying pet insurance for your dogs or cats.

Should You Get a Cat, Or a Kitten?

Executive summary about Cats for Pets by Dr.R.J. Peters

Kittens are, without a doubt, some of the cutest little critters on the planet. Kittens are fragile, tiny, naive and too trusting. If a child hasn’t yet learned the difference between a live animal and a furry toy, the “live toy” may not survive the experience.

When the single dad who lived next door to my shelter was annoyed that I refused to let him adopt one of our kittens for his little girl (so she could “have her very own little kitty to play with”), he easily found a local farm with the usual “excess cats” on the place and got not one, not two, but FOUR little kitties for her to play with.

If you work all day, it’s not fair to isolate an active, energetic kitten, as they really need to be able to run and play at normal intervals throughout the day. Instead, they will learn to sleep a lot and reserve more play time for night, when you are home. But if you are trying to sleep, this could be annoying.

Unfortunately, most people think nothing of giving kittens away at 6, 5 or even 4 weeks old. If your life doesn’t have room for the extra work involved with a baby animal, then give an older cat a chance as cats for pets. It may take a little longer for an adult cat to learn to trust you, especially if it came from a home where the people couldn’t be trusted, but once you bond, the relationship will be very rewarding… for both of you.

The Joy Of Having A Cat As A Pet

In this article, I write about the pleasures of having cats for pets. This is the daily schedule of our three cats. They wake up in the dining room which is now basically the cats room. They are then fed and eat their breakfast.

The cats then go out of the house for a while and a little bit later can usually be seen sunbathing in the garden, that is if the weather is good of course.

At around twelve midday the cats then come in for some lunch, yet more cat food. They will then sleep somewhere around the house for the next few hours before asking to be let out to do their business.

At around 5pm they have some more food and then decide to become a little more sociable. They would then normally join the family in the main living room and curl up to sleep some more, normally on somebodys lap. Each cat is quite funny as they seem to have a favourite member of the family whose lap they would prefer to sit and sleep on. My two children really love our cats especially during the evenings.

The three cats will then wonder out again at around 10pm before asking to come back in around an hour later.

The cats have really been no trouble at all and we are planning to let both of our  children have their very own cat to look after.

Executive Summary about Pets Cats by CS Swarens

Are you interested in buying a purebred cat or kitten? Finding the Right Breeder. The most important step in buying a purebred cat is to find a responsible breeder. As a general rule of thumb, you should look for a breeder who:

  • Does not sell the kittens until they are at least 12 weeks old
  • Is willing to answer all of your questions and to back claims with the proper paperwork
  • Asks you plenty of questions to make certain the cat is going to a good home
  • Is a member of at least one pets cats organization
  • Takes steps to screen for hereditary diseases that are associated with that particular breed
  • Requires kittens to be neutered or spayed
  • Is honest and straightforward about both the advantages and disadvantages of owning the breed you are interested in
  • Provides references for you to contact
  • Appears to know each kitten as an individual, which demonstrates that the breeder spends time handling and socializing with the kittens

Remember, a responsible breeder does not treat the kittens as merchandise. Rather, the breeder takes the time to match the kittens and the owners carefully in order to make certain everyone will be happy with the kitten’s new home.

Getting the Proper Paperwork

A responsible breeder will not charge “extra” to provide you with paperwork or to register your kitten.

  • Registration papers
  • Health clearance paperwork
  • Title certificates
  • Pedigrees

Any other claims the breeder makes regarding the kitten or its lineage should also be backed by paperwork, all of which the breeder should be willing to make copies of so you can have the paperwork for your records as well.
