Heated pet beds are available not only for dogs who have to sleep in a kennel, garage, or basement, but also for those sleeping indoors in colder climates.

Heated pet beds are equipped with thermostats that control the temperature, turning them into a haven of warmth. Dogs will enjoy cuddling deep into their beds even on the coldest nights. Heated beds have removable covers made out of washable material. The beds have low power consumption and usually have steel-wrapped cords to prevent dogs from chewing them. Some self-warming beds have reflective surfaces that reflect a pet’s body heat back to it.

Orthopedic heated dog beds are ideal for older dogs with stiff joints. Designed to provide extra support and comfort, the beds are also good for overweight dogs. Made out of medical grade foam, these beds help reduce stiffness in arthritic dogs and increase their mobility.

Available in various sizes, some heated beds are intended only for indoor use. Other variations of heated pet beds include heated cushions and mats. A safer alternative to heated beds is heated pads, which need to be put in the microwave before being tucked into a regular pet bed.

Pet Beds – Stain Resistant, Moisture Resistant, Outdoor and Eco Friendly

Surprisingly or not surprisingly, textile selection is extremely important when selecting a fabric for your pet bed as there are many factors to consider.

Stain Resistance : dogs and cats are somewhat messy animals as they don’t wash their paws when jumping into bed, they don’t wipe their faces after meals and when they pick (selectively pick, that is) trash from the garbage, they don’t always pick the cleanest to devour on their bed… which should really make you consider a pet bed that has stain resistance properties.

Moisture Resistance: Again, dogs and cats sometimes have accidents, unfortunately not always intentional. Moisture has the potential to pose as a problem, but not for the super fabric.

Odor Resistance: Foul odors can sometimes harbor in textiles if not treated immediately.

Eco-Friendly: of course the environment is important to all of us, but think about this…. A textile that’s not only aesthetically appealing, but is also environmentally friendly.

Machine Washable : Of course you don’t want to pay for dry cleaning bills, we don’t either. Throw it in the wash machine.
