When you are choosing a small dog carrier, you need to know what types of dogs? (  Pekingese , Chihuahua, Havanese , Maltese,  Miniature Pincher ,  Papillion , Pomeranian, Pug, Shih-Tzu or a Poodle along with a few other breeds)

There are also so many things to think about when you are picking out a carrier. Naturally you want to carry your dog in it, but is it for airplane travel? Or do you simply want to take around with you wherever you go? How do you want to carry the carriers? Think about these things before you make your final choice.

For traveling purposes, you need to think about the material of the carrier. Soft plastics and things like that must be avoided, because it will be too hot and uncomfortable, a hard type is better.

For planes, you still have to make sure that pets are allowed, also there may be dog carrier size restrictions.

There are also little strollers available for small dogs these days. Small dogs can also fit into body carriers, which are also like backpacks. You can find choices for different colors, sizes, ventilation, durability, rubberized fabric, detachable shoulder straps and up to four mesh-viewing panels.

Some even have inside leash rings, if your pet tries to rush out of the carrier when you open it up. This also will help with feeding and/or putting them into the dog carrier.

The open top shoulder bags are cute and fashionable for the luxury lifestyle of the dog. These dog carriers are usually easy to clean as most are washable and some have lambskin liners to make the ride even more comfortable. Find a top entrance or an end entrance that makes it easier to place the pet in the dog carrier.

airline dog carriers

Dog carriers for airline travel come in dozens of different styles.

Of course, airlines have very strict regulations when it comes to animal carriers, so you will want to check with the airline in advance and make sure the carrier you are considering fits in with their rules.

Large dogs, such as Great Danes and German Shepherds, need to be placed in large crates that are checked and boarded in the cargo area. You must also include a tag on the carrier that gives your name, contact information, and destination, so your pet can be reunited with you if you become separated.

Small dogs can often be brought on board the plane as carry-on luggage. Most airlines require that dog carriers for airline travel be big enough to allow your pet to move about comfortably inside of them, including changing positions, while being small enough to fit under the seat in front of you. If you buy an extra ticket, you may be able to put your dog carrier on the seat beside you.

Carry-on dog carriers can be crates, cages, or bags, depending on what is the most comfortable for you and your dog. Just make sure your choice meets the size requirements of the airline on which you will be traveling.

If you purchase a wheeled carrier, things will be a lot easier for you at the airport. It is much easier to push a wheeled carrier from place to place than it is to try to pull or carry it. With a little research and careful consideration, you can find excellent dog carriers that are approved for traveling on major airlines, and will be sure to please your precious pup.
